TUNING WITH COMPUTER SOFTWARE

Tuning via use of software abounds. Free or for a fee you can find various guitar tuners in the internet. These softwares eliminate the need to tune a guitar with an instrument or the conventional tuning by ear. All you have to do is to listen to the sound from the software, play it on your guitar and adjust the tuning machines tension until your guitar produces the same note as the tuner software.Keep in mind that the basic requirement in tuning is to get the same note as the tuner, not the sound because the difference in thickness of strings may cause varying frequencies and sound…just listen to the pitch.

Listen to the tuner and tune your guitar until you hear almost the same sound, though, it might be deeper. This is specially true when you get new strings and tune your guitar immediately after putting them on. Your stings have to adjust to the pressure applied to them so initially your guitar will not make the right tuning, it will sound detuned. But after exposure to a certain limit of stretch, they will hold on to a certain tone. Tip: Tune your guitar and leave it alone for a few hours then tune again and…that’s it. After each playing session the strings tend to mantain the pitch with better accuracy and stability.

In this article, I will discuss what keyboard features you should expect for your money.


The actual keyboard is the thing to look at next. That is the keys that make up the keyboard. Most keyboards in our price range have 61 full size keys to make up the keyboard, some of the lower price ones maybe 49 full size keys, as a beginner this is not a problem because even with the 49-note keyboard you won’t need to play all the keys. Make sure however that the keys are full size and not half size. Even if you have young children that want to play. There is absolutely no advantage in choosing half size keys over full size keys. Full size keys are approximately the same size keys as piano keys and are also referred to as standard keys.


Also some keyboards have a “touch sensitive keyboard” this means the harder you press the keys the louder the sound this is a great feature and can create expressive music however, for young children, they may not be able to press the keys hard enough to produce a respectable sound. Therefore, it would be advisable to check that the “touch sensitivity” can be turned off or adjusted.


Next, sounds and rhythms. Keyboards in this price range should have at least 128 sounds. These sounds are known as a “General MIDI” sound set. Most new keyboards made today of any price will include a “General MIDI” set of sounds and so it has become very easy and cheap for manufacturers to include these sounds.


The rhythm section should contain a minimum of 20 different rhythms and many keyboards in this price range contain a great deal more. Normally when using the rhythm section or drum machine as it is sometimes called it is used in conjunction with an “auto chord” feature. This means when you play a left hand chord, the computer inside recognises the chord being played and adds a bass line and maybe a rhythm guitar and possibly a brass section, which results in a great sound and makes the whole learning/playing experience a lot more interesting.


The “auto chord” feature is called different names on different keyboards, such as “fingered chord” or “magic chord”. There is also a feature sometimes referred to as “single finger chord” or “easy chord”. This feature is utterly useless if you want to learn to play the keyboard properly but it is included on most if not all keyboards and is a great selling point used by sales staff quite legitimately to create the initial interest in a keyboard. You can use this feature to show family and friends what a great player you are and simply switch back to “auto chord” to learn to play the keyboard properly.


Finally make sure the sound you are listening to is coming from the keyboards own speakers. Keyboards are sometimes connected to amplifiers, which can make then sound better. Make sure you know what your keyboard sounds like from its own speakers before taking it home.

A string synthesizer is also commonly known as a guitar synthesizer, or guitar synth. It is any one of a number of systems originally conceived to allow a guitar player to play synthesizers. There are two main types of string synthesizers. One outfitted with real guitars as an additional gear to actuate a synthesizer. The other one are guitar like MIDI controllers. Both types have their advantages and disadvantages. MIDI guitar is often used as a synonym for the field of guitar synthesis or for a string synthesizer, but MIDI is not involved in every case.


By tradition, the synthesizers have a keyboard interface that allows a human to play the instrument. However, a human interface does not necessarily need to be a keyboard. At the same time human interface is also not necessary. This is because the synthesizers produce sound electronically, thus any sort of input device can actuate them. In this case a string synthesizer provides an interface, which is familiar to the instrument player.

The hexaphonic pick up is sometimes built into the instrument as the part of the original guitar. The earlier string synthesizers required the musicians to use a proprietary string instrument, which was designed with an incorporated hexaphonic pickup. Much later manufacturers developed the line of pickups, which allowed the pickups to be mounted onto any guitar.


Today, several guitar manufacturers offer their guitar models with integrated hexaphonic pickup and preamp system, which is compatible with any guitar synth hardware.


Usually a cable connects the hexaphonic pickup to the converter. This allows the player or the guitarist some more freedom of movement, along with being creative with the converter.


The timbres of the guitar and synthesizers can be blended together at any ratio, enabling the musician to play guitar alone, guitar and synthesizer, or synthesizer alone. As a guitarist if you are using a hexaphonic pick up as separate component you can use any guitar and be creative.

Repetitive Stress Injuries (RSI): A type of injury where soft tissue in the body, such as muscles, nerves, tendons, and joints become irritated or inflamed.
